Lush is a company started by Liz Weir and Mark Constantine. It started with two stylists, selling their herbs through fitness centers and gyms in the early 1980's. Now, it has exploded into high end, highly coveted goods for relazing and pampering.
I would say one of the mose unique things about this establishment is the unexpected products and the high quality of just about everything there. For those who don't know, Lush is
known for their bath bombs. A bath bomb is like happy soap, that fizzes and spearates in the bath. Lush bath bombs are a bit different. Although they are a little more pricey, they are wonderful. They come in all different sizes, shapes, colors, etc. The reason these are so loved is that when the fizz and separate in the bath, they also release a tiny bit of happy, fun confetti. Some have glitter inside, others have hearts, or anything else. Also, they are updated seasonally that adds to the experience.
As I mentioned earlier, this company is known for their high end innovative products. One of which is the Shampoo Bar. Yes, bar. This is clearly unconventional, as there is usuall bar body soap and liquid shampoo. This caught my attention. I am always looking for different shampoos and hair products to try. So, I thought I'd give this a whirl.

First, I must mention that I have thick hair. Very thick, somewhat short, blonde hair. My hair is considered straight, I think, but can sometimes have some natural wave to it that can either turn out very beachy or very firzzy. Because of this, I usually look for some kind of sea salt shampoo or something to bring out the wave, as an attempt to avoid frizz. I try to stay away from anything that has the word 'oil' in it. My hair can so easily become greasy and flat if any type of oil is applied. So, I generally avoid it like the plaque.
So, I kept these few rules in mind as I ventured into Lush looking for the perfect bar of shampoo. (I'm still trying to get used to saying that phrase). I went in and immediately saw them all lined up in a cute little display. Immediately my eye was drawn to the Seanik Solid Shampoo. Not only did is smell amazing, like gentle water soaked cotton, (weird, but wonderful), but it also had bits of seaweed in it. How fun is that? So, I read the little card and it claimed to increase shine and volume, while not weighing hair down and taming frizz. Perfect. So, I threw it in the back and went on my way. I would've grabbed a few more, and who knows, maybe I will go back, but many of the others were all Argon Oil or something oil, and as I explained that scares me.
Later, I got home and when it was time for the shower, I grabbed my odd little bar of shampoo and jumped in. I loved it. I lathered it up a bit in my hands and then ran the actual bar through my hair only a few times. Now, remember my hair is very thick, so my expectations were a bit low, but it did not take long at all to lather up my entire head, maybe even three swipes of the bar through my hair. Afterwards, I did not use any conditioner or products, as not to ruin my experiment. I let my hair air dry.

Okay, maybe I am a bit biased because I love this company, but I do believe that this products did everything it said it would. My hair was soft and silky and shiny, but was not flat or greasy. I got compliments on the smell, which I was actually pretty surprised about, and I loved the entire experience. The women working did advise me to purchase a tin in which to keep it. At first I thought it was just a ploy, you know, to get me to buy more. But, it actually came in handy. Otherwise, I can certainly see the bar getting wet and sticky and slip around, thus using unnecessary amount of the product.
I should also mention that one of my friends happened to purchase the argon oil bar, called Jason and the Argon Oil. She had nothing but great things to say about it. She does frequently use oil in her hair, and she said this did not weigh it down or make it greasy. She also went on and on about the relaxing smelll. After hearing this, I do think I will end up purchasing a few more Shampoo Bars in the near future.
